Ed Rieds I.K.C Show

Up and coming events

The Ed. Reid's
SPORTING DOG 'SPECTACULAR
', on Sunday, Oct. 5th, resulted in a
qualified success; despite frequent showers throughout the day .. the
large number of classical type Staffords and other stylish contenders
presented a truly unique scenario of what's coming up in our break-away
circles ... the quality of many entries goes higher and higher, with
the judges making time-consuming assessments in the adult classes, not
to forget a good number of youngsters and puppies being noticed as well.

What we do at S.A.C.S

News Today
Lure racing A frame Long jump tug of war weight pulling and more for dogs of all ages and sizes. Here at southern Stafford’s we cater for many types of dogs not just bull breeds although many of the dogs are staffies and bull breeds. We run our shows from Margate in Kent. They are fun for all the family with toilets refreshments bar and certain dog related sales all on site. With trophies and medal's for winners. Including dog of the day award. Lure racing or coursing is my particular favourite the dogs run after a lure attached to a machine over 100 meters being timed. Running dogs do 150 meters. It’s great to watch. On special events we can make the lure go in a zig zag or complete circle. All dogs take to this and I haven’t seen one yet that hasn’t chased the lure. We do weight pulling too but mostly a 50 meter sprint whilst pulling a tyre with puppy tyres available too, and or tug of war. A frame is a great sport, a frames are 4 foot tall and the dogs are timed how many times they can go over it in 1 minute, 30 being a top end score. Long jump for the dogs is one of the best to watch with some of the bigger dogs jumping up to 15 feet WOW the smaller dogs don’t jump this far but they all do their best We run the shows in categories of under 18 inch over 18 inch and running dogs. Why not pop along and see what we do there is an entrance fee of £5 but only if your dogs want to take part with pups less than 6 months running for free. Contact us here on the site if you’d like to attend or join our forums to find out more.

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE NOW STARTING AT 11am !!!!!

August 2008

Hi all, After a lot of thought and talk amongst ourselves we have decided to do away with the long jump as this was taking to long to run through all the dogs, so instead there shall be an obstacle course for you and your dog to do a series of jumps through and over various pieces of equipment so a chance to test the owners as well as the dogs, (owners need not do the jumps, unless they so wish) the event will be timed and awards to dogs that are placed. The new event shall be run in 2 groups, 18 under, over 18s The unders shall do smaller jumps than the overs. There will be 7 obstacles in all 3 sets of small hurdles, small jump, A-frame, Large jump, tyre jump. The dog handler have to work as a team trough the course. Handlers have to guide their dog over each obstacle. Once all jumps are cleared there will be a post that you will have to run round then run back to the start line as quick as possible. Any dog tha is let go on the run back shall be disqualified. The rules of the course are.All dogs will be on lead throughout the course.(except going over jump & tyre).Toys will be allowed, food will not.Any dog or handler knocking off a hurdle 10 sec penalty per jump.Any dog failing to clear an obstacle 30 sec penalty.Any Handler letting go of the dog on the run back, disqualified!!! The course will be around 60+ meters long.
